2011-2012 Executive Board Elections

Assalaamu ‘Alaikum ISBUers,

Elections are around the corner and that means it’s time to open up nominations for next year’s executive board! There are 9 open positions and the descriptions for these positions are listed below!

If you know of anyone who you feel will compliment a particular position, you are welcome to nominate him/her by sending an email to isbuact@gmail.com by MIDNIGHT, Tuesday, April 19th, 2011.

Elections will be held Friday, April 22nd, 2011 at 4:30pm. The location of the elections will be announced later in the week, so stay tuned.

Please remember to choose your nominations with pure intentions, keeping in mind that pleasing Allah is the most important responsibility. Therefore, a nomination is best when Islam/character and experience are considered together.

OPEN POSITIONS

President:
• Strives to serve as an active representation of the values of the general body.

• Sets the vision, strategy, and goals for both fall and spring semesters.

• Plans and leads weekly board meetings and monthly general body meetings.

Vice President:
• Runs board meetings and general body meetings in the absence of the president.

• Oversees and follows up on the progress of events during the school year.

• Maintains the ISBU blog by writing weekly updates regarding Islamic events.

• Maintains communication with the Community Service Chair, Brother’s Social Chair, and Sister’s Social Chair regarding event updates.

Treasurer:
• Maintains an active record of the ISBU SAO account, outside donations, and ISBU finances in general.

• Applies for funding from the Allocations Board for upcoming events.

• Files all necessary paperwork in a timely manner for all upcoming events.

Secretary:
• Takes notes during weekly board meetings and general body meetings which are to be e-mailed as minutes following meetings.

• Checks and organizes the ISBU e-mail account and responds when necessary.

• Reserves venues for meetings and events all year.

Religious Life Officer:
• Provides input during meetings from an Islamic perspective.

• Provides Islamic resources for member and non-members.

Public Relations Chair:
• Maintains healthy connections with other BU student organizations.

• Maintains healthy connections with local Muslim student organizations.

• Communicates with the Vice President regarding the progress of these connections.

Community Service Chair:
• Organizes volunteer events for charitable work and local community development.

• Maintains communication with the Vice President regarding the progress of these events.

Brother’s Social Chair:
• Organizes events for the brothers of ISBU in order to foster a strong sense of brotherhood.

• Maintains communication with the Vice President regarding the progress of these events.

Sister’s Social Chair:

• Organizes events for the sisters of ISBU in order to foster a strong sense of sisterhood.

• Maintains communication with the Vice President regarding the progress of these events.
