The BU Anti-War Coalition is discussing “Terror in the Judicial System Post 9/11: Persecution of Muslims in American Courts”
When: Thursday, February 16th, 7pm
Where: Photonics Building Room 206, 8 St. Mary’s Street Boston, MA 02446
Tamer Mehanna (brother of Tarek Mehanna)
Faisal Hashmi (of the Muslim Justice Initiative)
Nancy Murray (of the ACLU)
Alarming numbers of American citizens are being taken into custody under allegations of terrorism. The Muslim-American community has faced particular judicial discrimination, and Tarek Mehanna’s highly-publicized Boston trial was a perfect example. Now that anyone can be indefinitely detained without charges under the National Defense Authorization Act, the stories of Tarek Mehanna and Syed Fahad Hashmi are more important—and more relevant—than ever. We need to think about what it means to be an American citizen. Act now and learn more at this panel discussion at Boston University.
