For the past two years, Islamic Relief’s DART has been providing free disaster response training to five states nationwide (NJ, CA, TX, VA, IL) and has doubled its training cities in 2013. The first session was held about 7 months ago, the weekend before the Marathon Bombings. Had we completed all the sessions, we would have been called to assist during that day.
In order for anyone to assist or respond during a disaster by U.S. law you must be attached to an organization. Islamic Relief, in its initiative to bring disaster preparedness and awareness to the Muslim community, is providing FREE nationwide trainings and the opportunity to deploy with its disaster response team once you’re trained on their deployments.
The 2nd session for Islamic Relief’s Disaster Assistance Response Team will be Saturday November 16, 2013. It will be one day from 9 AM to 5 PM. This training session will be on CPR and Casework.
One does not need to attend the first session to attend this one. One needs to complete all three sessions (in no specific order) to become certified. If demand calls for it, we will hold the first session in the future for those who missed it and need it to become certified.
